BURNT PIG - THERMOMETER FAILED
For such an expensive roaster, they use a cheap thermometer.. The thermometer failed on me and it was stuck at 190, while the inside of the box was way hotter. The pig started to burn on the edge and I had to lower the charcoal and open the box about an inch to let heat out.. The thermometer stayed with 185-195, even after we flipped the pig and added for charcoal. Unbeknown to us, the Pig's rind was burning up and the thermometer was still dialing in at +-180 but the inside temperature must have been way higher.. TURNED OUT THAT THE PIG RIND BURNED UP COMPLETELY. Additionally, the cheap thermostat's prong sticks way into the box about 5 inches.. So, you can easily get pinched with it or it can get stuck inside the pig.. BAD DESIGN.. They need a better thermometer.. Also, one of the beams from the grilling rack also came off during the first time I used it.
